National Super Alliance affiliate party ODM has written a letter to the senate speaker, Ken Lusaka, seeking the removal of the minority leader Moses Wetangula on grounds that it is the largest minority party in the house therefore the position is theirs.

The orange party wants Siaya senator, James Orengo as replacement to Wetangula.

The speaker told the house that he had received a letter from minority whip_ Mutula Kilonzo informing him of the decision. He however maintained that, “The removal of Wetang’ula, though valid, stands suspended and will not take effect until a Senator is elected by the coalition in the manner provided by Standing Order 20(1).”

Wetangula, who is the leader of Ford Kenya, is the only senator elected on the party ticket compared to ODM’s 20 members.

“I came to this house through ODM and not a coalition called NASA. We have been asking questions as members of the party with majority members in the coalition yet the key leadership positions is with our sister parties,” remarked Ledama Ole Kina, senator Kajiado county.

The beleaguered senator however maintains that he is going nowhere accusing the ODM leadership of witch hunt.

“All the appointments in this House came from the PG of NASA and not from ODM. NASA is a coalition,” Wetangula told the press. “In terms of the Senate, there is no party called ODM, if anyone wants a divorce, it will be noisy, it will be messy.”

Earlier on, the coalitions affiliated party leaders: ANC, Wiper and Ford Kenya had asked ODM to leave NASA and the meeting on divorce is slated later next week.
